I think I asked this at our first dinner back in February. I still can't get my head around what one wears. The thought of biking or running in a swim suit sounds yucky, not to mention chaffing-causing. But I don't want the drag of swimming in running shorts and a tank. And I am not spending $100+ on a tri suit, especially when they're not easy-off for the multiple trips to the bathroom I invariably take before a race.
What are you all planning to wear? Tri veterans, what do you suggest?

A - everyone wears a suit. No lie. It just isn't a big deal to bike/run in it after. You dry quickly on the bike...and you're sweating anyway. I did have some soreness of the crotch (sorry to be crude, but it's true) because I didn't wear padded shorts for the bike. I just threw on running bottoms over my suit and went!
ReplyDeleteTo add to what Cynthia said - 1. I totally agree -just wear your suit 2. If you need extra support wear a jog bra underneath, though be sure to practice swimming with the jog bra 3. I would also bring a running top if you don't want to run in just swim suit top
ReplyDeletefinally - don't spend a ton of cash on a tri suit unles you are doing a big long race -its not worth it :)
my suit gives me a wedgie. I can't run in it. Maybe a tankini?
ReplyDeleteCan you believe in the midst of all this woman-empowerment stuff I'm worried about my gut rolling over the waistband of my suit? In a woman's only race?!! Honestly.
